Next get rid of Childress and his ever so predictable play calling.

The QB issue was obvious but i have to say I am very let down with Childress....I thought he would if been a good thing. Our Defense is pretty decent, maybe we should get Denny Green back and ignite the offense!!  ;D

It can't get any worse.  Why not try someone else?

Look at Collins for the Titans.  He played above average last week.  Who knows, maybe Gus can make some plays?

Jeff Garcia is probably available from Tampa.  I would rather have him than any of our quarterbacks.

What we need is some deep threat plays wich involves some actuall deep passes that can be caught, which will open up the AP running game too.  In order to have that we need actual deep pass plays, a QB that can put the ball on the $$, this will spread out the opposing defense a bit more.

QB Hou backs up Schwab played great last year when he started 4-5 games. HOU need a RB and we have a few !! namely CT that could be traded

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota Vikings are benching quarterback Tarvaris Jackson in favor of Gus Frerotte.

Coach Brad Childress said Wednesday that Frerotte will start Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

Jackson started the first two games, both losses. He completed just 51 percent of his passes in those starts, prompting the coach to turn to the 37-year-old journeyman Frerotte.

"I'm just not seeing right now the aggressiveness from Tarvaris that I saw throughout the offseason, training camp, the two preseason games that he played in," Childress said. "And part of it may be experience. I know Gus will give us that. And I know his approach will also lend itself to that."

Frerotte was signed in the offseason to be Jackson's backup, but now finds himself trying to turn around a team that had high expectations. The passing offense has struggled mightily through the first two weeks, not only with Jackson's accuracy issues, but also with receivers dropping passes and conservative play calling.

After an 18-15 loss to the Colts last weekend in which the offense managed only five field goals, Childress said Jackson "is definitely our quarterback this week."

But that stance started to soften on Monday, when he said coaches were "chewing on a bunch of things right now and making sure that he's the best guy for us to go forward."

By Tuesday, the decision was made to give the job to Frerotte.

"I was very surprised," receiver Bobby Wade said. "I didn't anticipate that. Obviously it's the coach's decision and the administration's decision and we have to run with that."

Childress said that barring injury, Frerotte will be the quarterback for the rest of the season. However, Childress added he hasn't given up on the 25-year-old Jackson as an option for the team's long term.

"While I know he doesn't like it, I'd worry about him if he did like it," Childress said. "I know he'll make the most of it."

Naw... theres a reason Garcia aint a starting quarterback right now.  He'd be just another band aid... although, having two band aids aint a terrible idea until we get a better QB by drafting... The one thing that gets me is when ya hear people say,  Why doesnt Childress JUST go out and get a real QB or trade for a good one.  Guess what?  There are only a few really good QB's in the league, the teams that have them signed aint getting rid of them.... then you have the second tier of QB's, Its a large group of either older guys on their way to retireing that should be bench guys, helping young guys comming up or emergency fill -ins..... and TJ like prospects that may, but probably may not make it in the NFL.  Lots of teams in the same boat as the vikes... I think the key is having a coaching staff and a team that can make up for its QB's weak points.  The giants did last year.... Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer dont have rings because they're great QB's.... they were on good "teams"....  I have a feeling this QB change came from above with a threat for a coaches job..... ya never know, Gus could be a spark that gets a decent team, with some decent players, to play to their abilities... There's no way Zigmund could go two or three more games watching TJ "Move" the team like he has...Its all about entertainment, and it aint entertaining to watch this team going in the direction it is right now... ya gotta bench him, he's gotta learn to be a back up, or learn to improve as a starter by example from another experienced QB, which I thought he was , but some need more seasoning than others I guess... :chef: ;) :whistling:  At least now I will have a reason to watch the Vikes again... :banghead: Damn! just when I had visons of gettin some stuff done on Sundays! :doah: :bonk: ;)

well i for one do not want garcia, if we are going to get a qb it has to be one you can build a team around, not one thats the answer for 1 maybe 2 years. and if you want to trade for one how about brady quinn or matt leinart or alex smith? all could be great qb's they just got drafted by bad teams or teams that found another qb just before he got the start.

Alex Smith has been on a terrible team his whole brief career with a new offensive Coord every year.  He is better then his stats have shown in SF.  He is better then TJ.  Bring him over to the Vikes.

he wont ever be back in MN. thought you all want a QB better than jackson and i dont think culpeper is better than jackson i say they both about the same only difference was culpepper had FRANTASIC WR's to throw to and a receiver that all you had to do was throw it up into the air in the middle of the feild and he would catch it (moss)
