Hey all,
The open water season is in it's final stages up here in the northland. Vermilion has been fairly quiet as far as fishermen go, however the fishing action has been hot.

The Walleyes are bitting on jigs and minnows, and it really doesn't matter which
color, or which minnows you use. Steep drops on mainlake points and islands and large mainlake rock structures are hot.

The best action has been in the 25 to 35ft range most of the time. There are some fish being caught shallower however it hasn't been the most consitent bite. Water temps are in the high 40's so turnover will be coming soon.

After the turn the fishing will get even better for the Walleyes. Deep holes and the sharpest drops off of main lake structures, will be the place to be until ice-up.

The fall trolling action for Big Muskies is just getting started. With water temps falling into the 40's, the Ciscos and Whitefish will be staging up for their fall spawning activities.

That will bring some of the very largest Muskies and a monster Pike or two, into shallower water. Which will  afford those of us willing to brave the fall conditions an opportunity to catch the Biggest, fattest fish your
beady little eyes have ever seen.

Many of these monsters spend most of their lives out the deep mainlake basin and have never laid eyes on a lure of any kind. They also can get very aggressive under the right conditions. Multiple monster fish days are always a real possibility.

This is the very best time of the entire fishing season to catch the largest Muskie of your whole Muskie fishing life!!  :happy1:

I'm sorry, I can't write any more, I have to go fishing.
