Me and the hubby are heading out again today.  We are leaving right now to head back down to soutern mn.  To go and bag the last pheasants of the year.  Will post back when we get back and tell how we do.

Well we just got back from our last trip of the season.  We got our 6 roosters.  But it took us all afternoon to get them not as quick as thursday but we got them.

Congratulations.  I should have gotten 3 but ended up with 0, due to it being so cold, my glasses interfering with color (by the time I identified the roosters, they were too far away to shoot), and inattention when I need attention.

But it was surprising, I had 5 roosters and 3 hens flush within 10 feet of me, and flushed another 4 hens and 3 rooster further out.  They were sitting tight today.  Indeed, I am pretty sure I flushed one of the roosters 4 times.  He kept flying from one end of the swamp to the other.  And my dog's boots fell off, and so on the last flush I thought she was biting snow from her paws behind some cattails when in fact she was fighting a rooster (that flushed and surprised me).

That's my problem—when they are sitting tight, I let my guard down.

Must remember to be more vigilant.

Some times it always seems like when you arent paying attention that is when you end up flushing them.  I remember a few times when I was watching my dog and wondering what she was doing and then up pops a pheasant totally surprized and not ready.
