Barnacles Ice & Fishing Report 12-12-08

Yesterday we went out to the Rock Pile and there is 10"-11" of ice and a 2 ft wide crack that we have a bridge across. South of the Rock Pile there is 9" of ice and an active crack, we recommend that only snowmobiles be used at this time to get to the East Flats, however, we will be working on this today. People are fishing north of the Rock Pile in 22 ft of water, 8 walleyes were caught with 4 keepers and 4 thrown back. No reports from the Sands yet.

Plans are to start moving out small ice houses early next week.

Are you pulling houses out or did the snow slow things down?

We have a road plowed out front and to the Rock Pile. There is approximately 12"-13" of ice. We also have 1 of our big bridges out. Hope to check out the ice on the flats today if all goes well. We got around 6"-8" of snow but there was a lot of blowing going on so that helped. Right now we plan on pulling out this Thursday or Friday but one never knows what mother nature might throw at us between now and then. I will keep you informed if our plans change.

There was a group of 3-4 people that fished Thursday from about 10AM to 6PM. They causght 8 walleye with 4 of them keepers.

Your welcome! Sorry to hear you had no keepers. Some people were doing real good and then others were not. Jim was real busy plowing people out Sunday morning due to all the wind blowing the snow around but everyone got off safely.

Thats doesn't sounds like a bad thing. They feel and look even bigger coming up through an ice hole. Fun!
