The heavy snowfalls have made ice conditions very slushy, and extremely dangerous on the larger lakes in the Ely area.
We have received approximately 20-22 inches of snow within the last two weeks.
Burntside Lake has only 3-10 inches, with less in many spots and quite a few air holes.
Be very, very, careful if you are snowmobiling on the large lakes, and wear knee high boots if you try to fish the smaller ones.
Up to 10 inches of slush or more has been reported on some smaller lakes.
