District 1 - Baudette area
 
CO Ben Huener (Roseau) worked ice fishing and snowmobile enforcement during the week. Follow-up was also necessary on two cases from firearms and muzzleloader season. Enforcement action was taken primarily for failure to display registration and no snowmobile safety certification.   


CO Larry Milbridge (Warroad) followed up on a bear guide violation and checked anglers on Lake of the Woods and at US Customs. Fishing success was decent in most areas. Enforcement action for the week included angling violations, snowmobiling violations, fish shelter violations and commercial violations.


CO Jeremy Woinarowicz (Thief River Falls) patrolled the area snowmobile trails, checked local anglers, and conducted equipment maintenance. CO Woinarowicz is investigating a possible take buck deer out of season, with numerous whitetail racks seized as evidence. Enforcement action for the week included allow juvenile to operate snowmobile without helmet.


CO Keith Backer (Blackduck) responded to fishing and snowmobiling complaints. The panfish bite remains excellent on area lakes. Snowmobile trails are also in excellent condition. A wetlands meeting was attended with the county and other DNR employees.  Enforcement action for the week included snowmobile violations.


CO Brice Vollbrecht (Blackduck) spent the week working angling enforcement on Red Lake. Walleye fishing has picked up over the week and several 40” plus northern have been caught. Time was also spent on the area snowmobile trails. Several snowmobilers enjoyed great trail conditions and warmer temperatures. A Beltrami County TAC meeting was attended to discuss wetland violations in the area. Violations encountered during the week included illegal length walleye, angle with extra lines, angle without license in possession, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.   


CO Robert Gorecki (Baudette) monitored fishing and snowmobile activity throughout the week. Fishing continues to be good on Red Lake with anglers reporting the best action in the early morning. Fishing on Lake of the Woods has slowed, and anglers are having the best luck in the 30-34 ft. deep range. Station equipment maintenance was done. A wetlands complaint was inspected, and the landowner and contractor were found to be in violation. Enforcement action included fishing violations.
