I took my wife out onto martin this morning. It was her first time ice fishing so i figured it was crucial that i get her on some fish...
Well... she caught fish, and I didn't. The first fish she caught was a white crappie! ..."Its so pretty!!"... I've never even caught one! next was a nice black crappie. then about 30 min later she hooks into something a bit bigger... gets it up to the hole and in all the excitement just rips it out of the hole, bass master style. So here I am trying to grab this, what i thought to be, pike. I'm watching this thing flail about and thinking, "that looks kinda like a musky... white and gray... Thats a musky!" well before I got a could get a good ruling the thing spits the hook out and dives down the hole. I look at her and say "I think that was a musky, thats amazing, i've never caught one of those, there pretty tough to catch." She's got her heart set on it being a musky and is way proud, as am I.
So my question is... Is it possible for a small lake like martin to hold muskies? If not that this think was an albino pike or something because it was most deffinately white and gray.

First off, good job on geting your newbie (to ice fishing) in fish!  SO important.  Now to your question.  It could have been a muskie, or could have been a lighter coloered pike.  Check lake finder on the DNR website and see if martin has any skis in it.  There's a good possibility that it was a ski.
walleyes, pannies, esox, cats, I don't care, let's go fishing!!

I fished Martin a few years back... good little panfish lake. Sometimes they stock muskies to control panfish numbers if the size of them are stunted....

We fished martin last weekend and it sucked. 1 crappie in 4 hours other then that not a bite.   no one on the entire lake was getting much of anything.  We tryed every kind of bait lure/jigs you name it and nothing.

I live over by Martin and it is not unusual to find Muskies in area lakes. Martin is connected to a lot of lakes, Typo, Linwood.....Their is a good chance that one could have found its way. I am not sure if anyone remembers a few years back Martin was deemed as the dirtiest lake in MN. It is a good lake for the spring opener for eyes. the access sucks though.
