i am looking to start a team of about 3 instructors in the duluth area for teaching firearms safety. it is very simple get certified and i will head up the team. there is a need for instructors and it only takes a few evenings a year out of your time. please let me know if you are interested in helping shape the next generation of hunters. and dont think that you need to be an expert here, its very simple to teach kids, it just the basics, you know the things that most people are talking about on here...

I agree.  We need more Firearm Safetly Instructors.  Not just in the Duluth area, but all through out MN.  It's simple to get certified.  It's a one, maybe two night class to get certified, and just imagine how much help you'll be to get youngsters out in the field and hunting!  It's a great experience!!!!!!

Do you have any further information you could pass on to me I may be interested in doing this.  I have found that since you have to have a certificate if you were born after 1979, or if you go to different states no matter what your age you may need a firearms saftey. I live just south of Duluth, in Moose Lake, so it would be great if their are opportunities in that area.

Go to the DNR website and click on the Volunteer section.  I get updates e-mailed to me once in a while on volunteering opportunities and when/where Firearms Safety Instructor classes are taking place.  If you would like, I could pass them along to you.  The best be would be to check out the DNR website as well as talk to your local CO.

if you use the website http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/safety/instructors/training.html it will show you the classes and where they are. its very simple you have to go over some stuff before the class and then you take a few hours one night and thats it. you need at least 2 people there all times and its helpful if there are more so that your not talking every night. let me know if you are interested its a great opportunity

Not only is it simple to do, it's also very satisfying!  I'm a Volunteer Safety Instructor in one of the South Metro Suburbs, and it's a lot of fun helping kids, young adults and even some more mature adults become safe hunters.

It's a great chance to influence the next generations hunters!

I just went through this training.. it really isn't that hard if you don't mind giving up a night to sit in class and a few hours to fill out all the paperwork.
