With just 3 weeks left of the season, there is not a whole lot of things that we can do about the bite on Mille Lacs for this season. The bite for walleyes has been hit and miss at best and if you are at the right place at the right time, you will get bit and there has been a few people this season that where in the right place at the right time. There is just way to much feed out there this year. I was talking to the DNR creel census guy on Saturday, and he has not seen much of a bite anywhere on the lake this season. So if you hear about a bite on Mille Lacs, someone was at the right place at the right time.

For the most part, it has been a very slow year for the bite and for business this season. I myself am looking forward to a few months of rest and relaxation and we will see what the summer has in store for us. If there is a perch bite on its way, it had better hurry up. I have been all over the place, plowing roads and trying to get on fish. This weekend it was nice to have some warm weather move in and we had high hopes for the perch bite to start up. There are a lot of small perch out there and once and a while you can get a few big ones to bite.

For the most part, it has been a tuff bite for now, but if you are going to come up to the lake, bring up some small sucker minnows about 3 to 4 inches long. The big walleyes seem to prefer the larger bait. Golden Shiners are very hard to come by right now and the walleyes do not seem to want the fat heads this season, unless you are jigging just the heads. So like I said, go big on the bait and you will have a better chance at some big walleyes. That is all for this week. I will continue to search and destroy for the perch, and as soon as something worth while turns up, I will post it on the report.

Other than that, I do not know where they are right now. Many people have said to me; hey just lie about the bite; at least you will get the people to come up and spend their money. I am sorry, but I just can not do that, I have always told you the truth about the bite and I know for a fact that there are a lot of resorts that will lets us say, embellish how the bite is on Mille Lacs. You can rest assured, that you will always get the truth from The Rockman. I know that a lot of you have put your trust in what I say or write and I would never risk betraying your trust over the past 20 years just for money. That is what is wrong in this country; there are just way too many deceitful people out there, literally stealing our trust and our money.
