My grand kids wanted to go fishing so I picked them up after school and we went to White Bear Lake. We fish for a while with out a bite. Than it happened I got hit with a snow ball in back of the head and then heard a lot of laughing. The fight was on I finally made to my truck and locked my self in. The boys were still laughing. We had a good time even though we did not catch any fish, I think that's what its all about. :snow5:

I think that is great they are learning that outdoor sports are not all about harvesting but more about time together and memories made. :happy1:

We also watched a couple Bald Eagle fly over our heads They were about 100 ' above us . It always amazes me how their white heads and tails stand out . I never get tired of watching them. The boys Just stared at them when they flew over.

It's all about being out with the midgets. Some of the best days are not always the days you pound the fish but the days you bond with your family and friends.

Yea, it was on channel 5 at 5 PM. Ice was a ways away from shore and he went out cause, and I quote "I was getting limits of Sunnies the last six days". I believe that is illegal, but anyway, was rescued by a directv installer.

I went by there this mourning and it is still about 75% iced up. My guess is next week it should
be open completely

For anybody that uses the city access to launch your boat here are the fees for the launch permit
20.00 for resident
35.00 for non resident

I'm a non-resident and I purchase a sticker almost every year. Well worth every penny. If you've ever had to experience the fiasco at the public access. :doah: you know what I mean.

I hope they put out another section of dock this year. It was very shallow at the city access last year and from what I've been hearing the lake will be even lower this year.

i can't beleive how low the water is. The Ramsey county beach is going to tough to launch this year.

Might be a good idea to get the permit for the city access. Money well spent if you
fish there alot

Joe,

Don't kid yourself, the island launch can be crazy,it has enough room to launch four rigs at-a-time and you always get one or two guys that pull up and start pulling straps, tarps, load coolers and such, drives ya crazy, then the same folks pull the boat out and start all over right there at the ramp, whatever you do don't pull outof the way to batan down the hatches, seen a few fist fights there training-087,it can be alot of fun on a hot summer day when tempers are short, might make for  a good "blooper video"  :rotflmao:

I can honestly say the county access on White Bear lake is by far the worst access I've ever been to. It's supposed to have enough room to handle 2 boats at a time, but if you don't back your trailer in right down the center of the 2 docks your boat ends up crooked as hell on the trailer. That is after you wait in line for over a half hour. I haven't really had any trouble with people at the access it's just busy and the access itself sucks.
I have to agree with you about the guys who wait until they have backed the boat down the ramp to start prepping and loading the boat. Especially seeing how they just waited in line for a half hour.
I've got everything in the boat and ready to roll her off as soon as the boat hits the water.
