Is there any places to fish off shore by the dam, or any other areas, as me not having a boat right now and looking for some open water action.. Any help would be great.

That is a good question. Wish I had the answer. I do have a buddy who has done some shore fishing down there, I will ask and report back.

I've seen folks fishing from shore down there but I have no idea how they get there. You could call Everett's and maybe they can point you in the right direction.
Friends are like buttcheeks..........crap might separate them, but they come together in the end.

The rip rap shoreline right outside  the marina in Red Wing can be a good spot this time of year, and easy to get to.

There is a float in Alma that has bait and food and other goodies at it you can fish from for a fee!  They catch alot of fish from it as well.  It is the next dam(4) south of Red Wing.  You cross the bridge in Wabasha and go south when you get to cheese land.  There is a little dock to stand on behind the buildings on Main street Alma.  A boat picks you up and takes you to the float.

JDrummer,
What do you do for a living that you can drive over there from Mankato to hit it hard during the week.  I would like to find a job like that!  Maybe your a guide?
