DULUTH - Fisherman's Corner, Scott, 7 miles north of Miller Mall on Hwy 53, www.fishycorner.com (218-729-5369)
The prime bite has been the small mouth bass lately. Smallies are being caught on the Cloquet River up by hwy 53 and on the St. Louis River from Brookston down to the damn by Fon Du Lac.  A lot of 18 to 19 inchers and a few 21 inch smallies are being caught and released and even a report of one 23 inch small mouth caught.  Lake trout are being caught at the entry way and by Lester River 3 miles out in 120? to 140? of water.  A few are being pulled off the bottom as well as the 80 to 90 foot range.  Some Coho are also being caught out of Two Harbors.  Inland, Island Lake has been giving up some 12-14 inch crappies.  And the big sunnies continue to bite on Fish Lake. Area water temps are down 10-15 degrees in the past few weeks.

DULUTH - Marine General, 1501 London Road, on the edge of Lake Superior, www.marinegeneral.com (218-724-8833)
Lake Superior is producing a lot of lake trout right now on the west side out in 80 feet of water.  Some big lakers are being caught up by Isle Royal too in the top 50 feet of water and the hot bait is either green or purple glow in the dark spoons.  Silver bay up to grand portage is producing a good salmon bite.  The St. Louis River is showing some walleyes being caught, but most are out in the big lake still.  Expect the walleyes to move in later this week if the weather turns cooler as predicted.  A few salmon are starting to move into the rivers, but the water is low.  If any rain is received in the next week, expect the salmon to start running quick.  So watch the weather for reports of rain and call or stop in for the most up to date report.
If a gun kills people then I can blame a pen for my misspells?

today My work took me to silver bay and to finland area. My local firends tell me that cramer lake has about 7 inches of ice and dumbell has about 4 inches. I stopped at Lax lake boat launch and ate my lunch. It was totally froze over. Remember its still early so if you go take safety equipment and a buddy.  Lated Grandpa  Jack  ;D
