I just ran across this poll over at the Outdoor News site. How many of you would pay an extra $10 to fish 2 lines?
I know I wouldn't.
Here's to a long life and a merry one.

I would pay the $10.00 although in MN. I would mostly just fish with one line. However there are situations when an extra line would be nice.

In WI. you are allowed three lines yr round.

I fish two lines all the time on the croix and sippi. Would I pay the extra? I don't think so, it's like the walleye stamp. They don't budget what they have and then want more. Walleye stamps and extra line fees are rediculous. Open it up for everyone and raise the license $5, you are better off.

I liken it to a guy on the street corner asking for money. Good chance he's gonna go get more whiskey and not food. Same thing with this stuff. That's just my 2 cents.

I don't rightly know the answer to that ,but its an interesting question. I will say one thing and that is most people think you will catch more fish using multiple rods at one time. Its been my experience that 20% of the anglers will prove this to be true. On the other hand 80% of the anglers will loose more fish than they catch using multiple rods. Not enough quick reaction and to much confusing distraction.

If I bought it I would use the second line on a bobber setup and just check it periodically.

Open it up for everyone and raise the license $5, you are better off.

That is a much better idea.  This law is ridiculous, especially if your fishing for something like Cathfish.

Being a Bass and Northern fishermen I would not have much use for a second line. So raising the license fee an extra five dollars makes no sense to me. I do not have a problem with raising the fee to go towards earmarked fishing projects. Raising the fee for money to go to the general fund I would disaprove of. I don't understand the thought behind raising the fee for an extra line? the fishermen does not gain anything, his limit does not increase so how or why should he have to pay more.. Lets face it if you are on the fish a limit of crappies come to the boat pretty quick with one line. If you are not catching fish you are just watching another bobber, plus your buddies bobber or in this case bobbers! :fishing2:

Agreed, I've fished a lot in my life with two lines. Mostly from shore growing up in ND (which, by the way, has always had two lines and their fishing does not suffer one bit) and not everyone is going to manage more fish. Actually fishing the rivers out of a boat and taking newbies to boat fishing out, I have delt with more tangled lines than I care to admit. You have to pay a lot of attention or you will miss a lot. You have to constantly watch your lines. If you are on fish, drop to one line. It's not going to damage the fishing in this state at all.

Bobby, I agree with you that fisherman really gain nothing out of this. I don't like any extra fees so don't pay them. You get no more limits and not much of anything. You might, and I stress MIGHT, find the fish a little quicker, but you still better know what you are doing for that to work.

extra fees suck,  sure is expensive to live in the land of the free.  i might pay extra to drop a few more lines in hard water but not in summer.

oh, the bill will not allow for more than two lines...  it just allows you to use an extra line (for a grand total of two) in the summer.

You thought that if you paid $10, that you could add two more lines, for a total of 4 in the winter.  That is not how it works.

no you guys,  i was just saying that i would not pay more for an extra line during the summer but if they were gonna give the option in the winter to have 3 or 4 then i would.  i know what your talking about is for 2 lines in the summer and that sounds like a waste to me.  just my opinion.

That is a good point though.  It's pretty stupid that you can fish with 2 lines in the winter but not in the summer...

i agree with sandmannd. it is a rediculous law. every other state around us is o.k. to fish 2 lines why should we not be able to. from what i see there fish population is doing just fine.
