Heres one for you guys, while most of us on here try to attract deer theres others trying to get rid of them. A nieghbor lady asked me how she can keep the deer out of her garden this year. I said moth balls, dryer sheets, I was wondering what you guys thoughts are. I heard human hair from a barber shop works? Or I guess build a fence is her other option but she doesn't want to do that becuz of the size of her garden and location. Any Ideas?

I'm sure your bow would work come September  ;)

Besides building a giant fence around the garden I have never heard of anything as effective.

Hopefully come september I have my new bow and by that time they should be nice and plump, shouldn't need a vegtable side dish if they eat her garden all summer right ;D

there is or used to be a product called deer away. My neighbor had deer everynight in his garden two years ago so he tried the it. It is in a spray bottle and reeks like rotten eggs. After he sprayed it around there were no deer for a week. he reapplied it and they stayed away again until the rain washes it down or about five days.

Bad part about that Ken is if it smells like rotten eggs it will keep her and everyone else out too! ;)
The best thing might be to plant a deer candy of sorts in a different location from the garden. They will be more attracted to it than the rest of her garden so to speak. I have also heard of people using several motion lights. They may become accustomed to that quite quickly however in an urban environment.

Motion activated sprinklers work pretty well.  It releases a short burst of water when it detects animals.  The sudden water, movement and noise scare animals away.

Irish Spring soap on a rope actually works very well. A local nursery here swears by it. You hang the soap around waist height and the deer do not like the odor. Last all summer long.  :happy1:

try hanging a few plastic grocery bags around the gargen.  my neighbor uses them to keep the deer away from his apple trees in the fall.

A plastic bag?  The noise it makes when wind blows against it? just curious how else a plastic bag would scare them off?
