panning for gold

Not sure if this topic belongs in this forum or not but does anyone here currently or in the past pan for gold in minnesota?  Just curious where or how it's done and if anyone knows anything about it.

I've never done it, but it looks like it could be fun.  There is a show on Saturday mornings-one of the outdoors channels called "Gold Fever".  It's interesting to watch sometimes, however the host could be better.
