My little boy has a black eye...again, and it is different from all the others he has had in the past.  And yes, he has had a lot of them.  He's a wrestler for one, and he also has had stitches three time in his face. And no, I don't beat him, not too much anyway!  He's pretty tough though and it doesn't seem to phase him too much, he was just glad this time he didn't have to get stitches because he say's "that ALWAYS takes WAY too long".  Anyway, what I'm wondering is how long does that red part stay in his eye?  He has had it there for over 2 weeks now, and it doesn't seem to be fading too much, and everytime I look at it, it makes me feel like I'm going down on a roller coaster, it totally groses me out!!  Anyone, have any experience with this red bloody looking thing in his eye?

And here's a couple more.  He can open it now much better, but the red in his eye is just as bad as it was when he first got it.  By the second picture you can see he was VERY sick of Mom taking pictures of him!!

Looks like what I had a few times as a child. It's a droplet of blood that spreads out underneath the eye membrane. Subconjunctival hemorrhage is what I believe it is called. Should go away withing another week or so.
Marry an outdoors woman. Then if you throw her out into the yard on a cold night, she can still survive.

Thank you!!  I will be counting down the days!!  It is just soooo disgusting!!  I can take the black eye, the colors get kind of pretty actually!  ...but the whole "subconjunctival hemorrhage" thing, I sure can live without!  Thanks Lex!

Well, it's been just about a month since he got this, and it is ALMOST all cleared up.  He just has a little bit of red left in his eye, another week or so and I am thinking it should all be gone, Thank God!!  ....well, until the next one anyway!  His newest thing is riding his skateboard down the cement stairs or off of our brick retaining wall, whenever he thinks I'm not watching.... I'll keep you all updated on his next injury though, cuz it's just a matter of time.  I told him though, that when he DOES get hurt next, that he can find his own way to urgent care, the doctor or the hospital. I'm not taking him there anymore because I swear they are going to think we are beating him, we are just there with him way, way, WAY too often.  He just has no fear and it doesn't matter how many times he get's hurt, he'll be right back at it again the next day!
He's just one of those kids that has to learn things the hard way! :help:
...I'm quite sure he takes after his father.

My youngest daughter also has no fear of anything.  3 concushins(sp), numerous bumps and brewses, and a couple of close calls with stitches.  Last time they took me in a different room and asked my daughter how she got hurt.
