LOTW Report 7-5-09

It was an absolutely perfect 4th of July.  The fireworks were spectacular and the weather was unbeatable.  As for the fishing, yes it was great too!

We have had a few days of real light wind which creates more of a challenge for the anglers to keep actively catching.  Although our catch rates were not as high this week as they have been so far this season it has still been fantastic.  We have been catching limits daily and plenty of the trophies.  10 year old Lily Simon from Illinois caught and released a 26.5 inch and a 29 inch Walleye today!  Congratulations Lily!

Our guides have been fishing on the northern side of the lake this past week and depending on wind etc the tactics have changed.  Anchored and jigging seems to be the favorite but with little wave or wind drifting they have also been trolling with spinners and crawlers.  There are a great number of fish off of Pine Island, tons of action with 14 inch Walleye and the occasional big one.

We are expecting another great week of weather!

MTT tournament this weekend should prove to be exciting.  There are a great number of Walleye at the 19 inch mark and the numbers of big fish being caught creates the opportunity for some great weights coming in.
