Its fishing season, HELLO

You know how two weeks before Halloween which is in October, all the stores start selling Christmas stuff, and last time I checked Santa’s not even due until late December.

The bigger stores have a token area for the roasted turkey day as an after thought, but the vast area of anything and everything, and just so were not confused because as we all know I’m stupid, its pre wrapped and far too early for Christmas sales. My point is, whether I like it or not, I’m getting a Christmas season that’s longer than deer season.

So I go into the bait store because I’m in the fishing season, needing fishing tackle, but the bad boy who owns the place wants to get a jump up on this falls hunting season so everything I need as been boxed up and hauled downstairs into what he calls seasonal storage.  I think he has seasonal storage disorder.

I’m in the correct season. I’m the dang customer. He told me without blinking an eye, to get with it, that I’m behind the times. I walked out of his store and called one of my fishing buddies who pretty much agreed with the store owner. All that did was make me mad I ever bought a cell phone so I could get a dumb answer faster.

I like hunting, I love hunting, but for crying out loud don’t rush the seasons off the store floor before there even gone. Ice is gonna show up sooner than we know it. Can’t we just slow down, stay in the moment. The leaves aren’t gonna fall any faster just because  some guy hangs a sign that says 15 percent off all blaze orange in stock especially when I need summer fishing equipment he normally has on the shelf. Let deer season really be in deer season. Grouse for grouse and ducks for ducks.

It aint me. I aint a rusty old curmudgeon. No I’m not slipping with the years. If I had a soap box I get on it so quick you’d think I was running for office but guess what, they aint produced soap boxes in the last half of this century. Yeah times are changing, and sometimes they are changing just abit to fast and for no good reason.  I got a good mind to go use a cane pole this weekend and not for fishing but to paddle that smart aleck store owners back side.

You want quick, you want a guy ahead of his time I’ll give ya it, what I wish for Christmas this year is this. Leave my seasons alone, they go way to fast as it is.
So Happy August and have a Merry Christmas

Yea, every year they get early and early of when they take the season things down and put new stuff out. Hate that. One way to solve the problem is to go to your local bait and tackle shops. They pretty much always have what you need.
Friends are like buttcheeks..........crap might separate them, but they come together in the end.

Even the smaller bait shops are the same way! One more thing I hate is that most of the stores only order stuff once before the season starts. then a few weeks into the actual season they are out of a certain lure I need or am looking for!
