What a week of fishing here on Lake of the Woods! A warm and stable weather pattern over the past few weeks have kept walleye in their late summer patterns. Downrigging continues to be the most popular and productive way to put fish in the boat. However, a good jig bite can be found on some days. Charters continue to fish in the vicinity of Zipple Bay and Long Point in 28-34 feet of water. All colors and types of plugs from Shad Raps to Wally Divers to Reef Runners are putting great numbers of fish in the boat.

Congratulations to the Minnesota Tournament Trail and all the anglers on another successful season. Most of the competing anglers found great numbers of fish during this past week’s two day season championship event. A limit of fish being weighed each day was the norm for the 74 team field of anglers. Congrats to this year’s champions Rick Amundson and Tom Briggs who brought in a two day weight of 45.24 lbs.

The weatherman is calling for another warm week of temperatures in the upper 70s most of the week. The water temperature is currently 69 degrees in the river. We will need some cooler weather to get the water temperature down and to get the shiners moving into the river.

Fish On!
