$2.26 here in Woodbury today, a couple of months ago it was $3.29, thats over a $1.00 less. What a bargain. >:(

$1.15 a gallon sure looks good..... Where did you hear or read this? It sure pisses me off how the system works???? As soon as the voting signs hit the yards, the prices come back down.

$2.38 over here in the Arrowhead.  a buck cheaper than when I bought my 8 tanks of boat gas for my last Basswood trip.

I sure hope Jiggle's article is right so I can afford to keep it warmer than 50 dregrees in my house this winter!

Don't mean to turn this into a political thread but, don't you have to wonder, with the election dead ahead in Nov. This seems to be kinda funny timing.

I mean they couldn't refine enough gas to bring the price down, as we have reached refinging capacity.

Nothing changed in our refineries, we didn't build anymore.

I think they stepped on their own toes....

I seen on the news that, down in Mississippi they were selling gas for $1.99 per gallon

$2.14 in the cities on last nights news

Prices began to drop before they found the new oil (see article) but as long as they keep going down I don't care.

? we should vote for a communist state government and see what changes with the oil co.? ill bet that would put a crunch in their profits!!!!!!!!!!!

And we all can wear our little gray uniforms and go to the broom making factory to work on our bikes!? No more worries about burning fuel to go fishing or hunting...

Don't understand how the politicians control the gas prices...?? Maybe they are controling my pricing for my company too... just haven't seen them get the prices up high enough for me to gouge anyone... ??? ;D

We had price regulations in place for gas and oil in the 60's and 70's... that did not work either.? I remember 5 years ago when milk was half the price/gallon that it is now... never hear a peep about the politicians gouging us on milk...

This happens every year... it did last year and the year before.? Prices escalate through the summer months and drop in the fall to slowly begin to rise again around Christmas.? I am initmatley aware of this as we go through +/- 5000 gal. of fuel a month.? The peak of demand in America for gas is May through Sept. (my busiest period). The lowest point of demand is in October... pricing follows the supply they are able to produce... You want cheaper gas?? Quit voting for the tree hugging liberals that WILL NEVER OVER THEIR DEAD BODIES vote to build another refinery... it won't be long till electricity does the same thing as they are not allowing anymore power plants to be built.?

On a side... gas was $2.14/gal by the office this morning.? Diesel was still $2.60/gal yesterday when I filled....

Good Luck!

Ken

fuel dropped 20 cents last night. glad I didn't fuel up til this morning.
that saved me nearly a case of beer. ;D

But how can gas fall to $1.15 a gallon or explain how it dropped as it has.

The republicans been telling us that the price of gas has little to do with the price of a barrel of oil.

but! it has everything to do with our in-ability to refine enough gas for this country, as we have reached our refining capacity.

Now that the price is falling, they mention no such thing about refining capacity.

Looks to me like somebody was telling us lies to keep the cash flow rolling in.

But now that they need our votes come Nov. Their big friends in oil have desided it is at their best interest to lower their prices and try to keep as many republicans in office.

Don't you agee? Big oil is lowering it's prices to help the voters choose a person who views/envro outlook is inline with theirs?

I guess last fall was an election year too....? Believe me, I am not in love with how our current administration has handled many things, but this is NOT tied into the elections.? ?The prices ebb and flow like this every year for the past 3 years, it was just more dramatic this year.? Last year was nearly as bad, people just don't remember it... But I have to set yearly budgets and review them and it wasn't pretty either last year.? Diesel was up hovering around $3.00/ gal for the better part of last summer and receded in the fall, did the same th year before when it was in the mid-$2.00/gal? range.

Gas will never hit $1.15/ gal... (if it does I'll eat my words ) We'll probably see something in the upper $1.80's and then a gradual ascent back to the upper $2.00 range by next summer.

Gas is closely tied into the cost of a barrel of oil, when you factor in they are getting 20 gal of gas out of a 40 gal barrel of oil... if it goes up $20.00 a barrel, there is your extra $1.00/ gal. for gas!

I have a friend that works at Koch refinery and he re-affirmed me they are at maximum production capacity to produce enough gas for consumers through the summer.? There is a definite tail off through the fall.? Then with winter heating etc. it slowly climbs through the winter.

Funny thing is, I remember seeing a web-site that showed that? 2 of the 'Big-Oil' companies gave more to the democrats than the republicans during the last election.? I also remember hearing when they were talking about opening ANWR that there were a lot of Dem's that were on some 'Big-Oil' bank rolls to make sure that the measure was defeated.? These were the companies that were not going to be able to drill in ANWR.? Thus proves my point that most politicians will never vote for what is best for the country, but rather what is best for them.

I think now that they got Bush on the ground curled up, it's just easier to keep kicking him and pile every possible thing that bothers you about our economy on him.? This is not a defense for him, just a simple fact that we want a scapegoat.

Good LUck!

$ 2.69 per gal in Elk Grove IL (Crook county)

$ 2.51 Per gal in the next county north (Lake county)

Is that because we live closer to the refineries ???

The ethonal industry has doubled in the last 4 years and is projected to double again in the next 4. When gas prices are high the better off the ethanol industry does. Demand for E-85 will continue to go up with more vehicles being made that use it. With the price of corn at $1.85 bu. production is cheap. But what happens if corn prices go way up and gas prices come way down, ethanol will lose money big time. There will be a lot of ethanol companies going broke, that`s when the oil companies with there billion dollar record profits can come in and buy out the ethanol industry for a song, and now have complete control again.
I don`t look for gas prices coming down under 2 bucks until we have a major drought in the corn growing region, raising the price per bu. up to the $4-5 mark or more. Then if they lower gas prices this scenario will play out.
 Gas here is 2.32 gal.

It's the production of the E85 that cost's a lot of $$.  I know a farmer down in SW MN and he is putting up a wind turbine that will operate a ethanol plant at 100%, with some left over.  With in 4 years we will see the production costs's come down.

OPEC had an emergency meeting with its producers to agree to cut oil production.
this action has sent the prices of the barrel back up in anticipation of short supply.
this sucks, as I hate to limit my buying during hunting season >:(

2.25 in Duluth.

Keep an eye on the economics of china and india. They are eating up resources FAST as they are both growing. This include crude oil. The price of fuel is effected by supply and demand, not elections. The fact we do not have any oil wells of the coast of Florida or Caifornia IS controlled by politicians...liberal ones! Both places have oil that we could use, not just ANWR.

BNot to Hijack this thread but its been brought up already so I am gonna add my .02

Things that ARE controlled by elections are these last minute "surprise" breaking news stories and other mud slinging. The Libs are really good at it. Ted Kennedy can get drunk, drive into a lake and kill a woman and end up one of the most powerful people in office.  The Dems have a guy who  ACTAULLY  had sex with a 17 year old boy and was censured for it and is still in office,  A president who got a hummer in the oval office and lied about it, and Nancy Pelosi marches in a parade with the head of NAMBLA (tha stands for North American Man/Boy Love association if you didn't know)  and takes contributions from them but wants to get on her high horse about protecting children because a Rep Congressman in Fla wrote som naughty things to a 17 year old in an instant message. Gimme a break, two faced liberal @$$ holes.

My political choices have boiled down to two things. 1)..you either support my right to own and cary a firearm and you get my vote (Such as Pawlenty has) or you don't in which case I will help to campaign against you.  2) you support controlling our boarders and controlling the illegal immigrants who suck ourt socail programs dry or you support the illegals which in my mind makes you a criminal for harboring a fugative.

Such as the LOSER Gov we have in Wisconsin who needs to GO.  He has vetoed my right to cary a gun twice. He has vetoed voter ID bills three times.
He has proposed taxing the bejeezus outta ammunition and supports limiting the kind of guns you and I can buy.

Mark Green for Gov in Wisconsin, Re-elect Pawlenty.

I'll get down off the box now.
