The fishing this past week was the best fishing of the month. The weather has been great too, with lighter winds and steady temperatures in the mid to upper 40s. Right now there is a fantastic bite going on out from the Lighthouse Gap. Anywhere from 17-30 feet has been giving up walleyes, lots of saugers, and even an occasional jumbo perch or pike. Early on in the week the best fishing was out in 30’ of water. However, the past few days some of the better action has been happening closer to the Gap in 17-22’ of water. A live or frozen shiner on a 3/8 ounce or lighter jig is the best way to put fish in the boat this time of year.

Although the best action is still out on the lake, the early morning and late afternoon bite has really picked up on the river. There has been less numbers of fish in the river, but the quality of keeper sized fish seems to be better. A bunch of fish 25” and bigger have been caught in the river this past week as well. The water temperature is holding steady around the 42-43 degree mark much like last week. There was finally a really good shiner run on the night of the 23rd. Those shiners should help improve the river bite even more going into this week.

The restaurant and bar will not be open as of November 1st until ice fishing begins. Cabins will still be available to rent during November. Winter is just around the corner. To ensure availability book your ice fishing trip now.
