Obviously you won't sit out the firearms season. Sight er in and play. It must be easier to shoot than your bow.

didn't you get to hold it before you bought it? it's a little late now to worry about it

Sorry to hear about that cva54, did you get it at Wal-Mart?
I picked up the vanguard in a .270 SM last year and I love mine! I had a Rem. model 700 BDL - 30.06 and that thing kicked like a mule and I was not very consistent over 100yds so I did a little research and a lot of talking with different gunsmiths and most of them had nothing but good things to say about it, so I figured for $399, Why not. I was expecting more of a kick from a Short Mag. To my surprise it wasn't bad, I was dialed in at 100yds in 3 shots and shot the rest of the box, I've put close to 100 + rounds though it now and it is a fun gun, and by far the most accurate gun I have owned. The trigger on the Vanguard is supposed to be set at an average 3.15 pounds with sear engagement of .008 - .014 inches for little creep and a crisp break, now if it is not a "Wal-Mart Vanguard" witch I don’t know the difference, you should be able to go back and have them check that out. Just a thought. I have an article from North American Hunter that you might want to check out, just shoot me an E-mail and I will scan a copy to you (pmisky@gmail.com)
I guess all I can say is keep shooting, if you can get tight groups with a stiff trigger the looks really don’t matter. Good Luck

I got her fixed she shoots great! I talked to the gun shop were I got it. Thay let me do a store trade. I am happy to say it is a 700 SPS stainless in camo stock 7mm rem mag. Had them set up my cheep temp. scope with weaver rings lazer sight it. Went to my range first 3 shots in a 3" cir. 100 yards went home. My boy is going to like carrying it this year. I still going to use my 721 .06 TOATLY redone one that is. I can hit a 1" square at 200 yards the first shot only I think i got it coverd just need deer now
