Has anyone ever heard of or actualy used a Rot for upland bird hunting? Possibly ducks down the road? I used to have a 13th generation Rot a few years ago from Germany. (German rots are skinnier than american rots)
I'm thinking of getting a Black lab in the near future but would like another Rotwieler.
Maybe a Rot/ German shepeard mix?
all input is welcome  :happy1:

I have never heard of that.

What I do know is that home owners insurance company will drop me in an instant for having a Rot.  Just something to consider.
Take a kid hunting and fishing... It'll be the best thing for generations to come.

I love those dogs. Best dog I ever had and she was brilliant. One of the smartest dogs as well. I actually researched this when I was in college. I did a paper on them and there was some hunting in their backgrounds. I could also tell from her instinct, she was a maniac when we went in the woods and for walks. I also have hunted with two before. When I was really young I walked a field with a guy and he had two rotts. I think I was a kid and scared of them because the neighbor up the street had one that I was afraid of so I watched them more than I did for birds but it was fine. They were maniacs running around like crazy.

Note: Although I love the breed I would never ever buy one for hunting. You won't get that natural heavy instinct like you will in a hunting breed.
