 IM hAVING PROBLEMS WITH A TAXIDERMIST HE WAS DOING A BEAR AND A FISH FOR 800 BUCKS I GAVE HIM 200 UP FRONT HE CALLED BACK AND NEEDED HALF TO START  SO I TOLD HIM I HAD A GUY LOOKING AT A 870 OF MINE AND HE SAID HE NEEDED ONE SO HE GOT THE GUN (200) AND A CHECK FOR A 100 TO ORDER THE MATERIALS SO THATS  500 ON A 800 DOLAR PROJECT 2 DAYS LATER HE CALLS AND SAYS HE CANT CASH THE CHECK SO I CANCEL IT AND SEND HIM A MONEY ORDER 2 WEEKS LATER HE SAY THE FISH WILL BE DONE IN A WEEK AND HES NOT DOING THE BEAR SO I CALL HIM AND HE GETS ALL HUFFY AND SAY COME GET YOUR SH-- I SAID OK I WANT MY MONEY BACK HE CALMS DOWN AND SAYS HE WILL FINISH THE FISH AND WE CAN SQUARE UP MY BRO WENT TO PICK UP THE BEAR AND SHOTGUN ANDTHE FISH WAS SITTING THERE TOO HE HAD TO LEAVE SUDDENLY HE LEFT ME A SLIP OF PAPER THAT SAID THAT I OWE HIM 250 FOR PREPARING BEAR HIDE AND 300 FOR 75% OF FISH MOUNT COMPLETE AND A 30 CHARGE FOR THE RETURNED CHECK HE WAS TO RIP UP IF NO PAYMENT I WOULD GO TO COLLECTIONS (IHAVE ALL RECIEPTS FROM HIM)

Well, it sounds like that guy was a real  !  However, If you dont pay him the $300 you owe him, if I do my math right you are down.... $300 (200 down, 100 money order and 200 for the shotgun, but you got that back)?  Which is pretty crappy, however, if you look on the bright side, you have a finished fish? (or 75% finished) as well as your gun and your bear hide that has already been tanned?  Which is really the expensive and time consuming part of the mount.  SO, I would recommend, if the fish isnt all the way done, I bet there is a taxidermist somewhere else that could finish it for cheap, and same goes with the bear, since the hide is already tanned, the price to finish the bear couldnt be too much more..... I might be wrong!

So I would say get someone to fish the fish for cheap, since it sounds like its almost done, and if you can find a good deal on the bear, you may even get the 2 done cheaper than you would have normally (If you are only in the hole $300)!

I am sorry to hear about the situation, you should post the name of the Taxidermist so we all know not to take our business there!  And I hope you find another texidermist to finish the job!

CONGRATS on the trophy bear and fish!  They must be nice if you are getting them mounted!

Well, Im pretty sure you have more of a case than him, because you paid him for the bear and fish and he didnt finish either of them.  If the fish is indeed finished you can still get a decent deal on the bear and Im pretty sure will have a case in claims court if you have all the documentation.

First thing I would do is call the small business bureau, On him,

YA I GOT MY STUFF BACK BUT HAVE NOT LOOKED AT BEAR YET HOPE ITS MINE CINN SWIRL AROUND THE NECK AND DOWN THE ARMS AND WEIGHED OVER 400LBS I TRIED TO CALL HIM SEVERAL TIMES TODAY TO LET HIM KNOW MY BRO WOULD BE THERE AT 10 WITH NO ANWSER HE FINAILLY ANWSER AROUND 1200 AND SAID I WAS HARRASING HIM AND IT WAS MY FINAL WARNING AND HE WAS CALLING THE COPS AND MY WORK NOT SURE WHY HE WOULD CALL MY WORK THOUGH

Ok you got the fish and bear hide and gun back, Now I would take (photos) of the stuff and wright what he did on them and what was not done, keep all the paper that you have and right down the time and date that you talk with him,this way you have the proof when you go to court, and how much $$ you give him, 300.00 in cash and 20.00 for the cancel check,,

Now he say you owe him 250.00 and 30 CHARGE FOR THE RETURNED CHECK and  INTEREST,
OK he can not CHARGE FOR THE RETURNED CHECK of 30.00 because the bank do not charge him for the returned check in less he is over draft in his bank,( that on him) This I know because I have a retail store, he can charge you this if he has to send you a letter with a cop and you have to sign for it, next INTEREST he has to poof that you own him the $$ to get that,

Now as far as he call the cop on you for HARASSING, He owne you your $$ back and that not HARASSING him, as long as you are not  at him or threading him, the cop may tell you to stop call him and just go to court, I would just send him a letter and make him sign for in keep copes, of all the thing you do,
How as for as him calling you work, If he dose that is HARASSING, But keep a log on it and who he talk to and time and date and what he say, Your work can not fire you on this, but (wright it down,)

Now you are out 300.00 I would not take him to court, Let him take you to court, If he dose make sure you counter sue, For the 300.00 you are out,and HARASSING if in fact he dose call your work, you can not sue for no more then what you are out. any more ?? on this?

See court like proof Date,time, photos,phone bills, If they can see it, That more proof on your side not his, He will loose,
It would cost your more $$ to take him to court, If he take you to court then sue him back, for the $$ you are out, But if he dose not then it not wroth it, I do not think he will but have your proof ready, You can only be made hole, not more and he did do 75% of the fish, so you mite get 50.00 to 100.00 back.

call the small business bureau, On him, And tell all the people you know, Not to go to him, The word of mouth, That is all you can do, You are not the first person he done this too I sure of that, The more people that he dose this too soon he will be out of business, He can not get you for slander if you are saying the true, And if you are not it is hard for him to proof that in court. Your friend will know that, I'm also  to here that you had to go throw this after you spent the time in catching the fish, and your bear hunt,

You are all so got luck that you got it back, because he could of not giving them back to you, Then you would have had to take him to court, you have to know the people you are have then do the work for you, and (That is hard to do,)  So check them out! it also mite be hard to fine some one to do the work after it was work on by some this guy. One more thing I would check the bear hide out A.S.P to make sure he did not   it up, Let me know how it all turn out for you,

wow.. so break it down what all did he do to the bear?

he skun it all the way from a whole bear? split it and salted it?

and the fish how fare along is that? and what was he charging  you a inch for it?

THE BEAR WAS FLETCHED OUT NO SALT NO TAN AND FROZE AGAIN. THE FISH WAS SKUN SALTED AND MOUNTED ON FOAM NOTHING ELSE DONE TO IT THE TOTAL BILL FOR ALL HIS HALF A-- WORK WAS 300 HE ALREADY HAD AND ANOTHER 250 HE THINKS ILL PAY OR ILL BE SENT TO COLLECTIONS. HE ONLY WANTED ME TO PAYCASH OR MONEY ORDER THE CHECK HE CASHED WAS SIGHED OVERTO HIS LAND LORD
