Is that scheduled for April 3rd if I read the newsletter correctly?  If so, we're out of town for the Easter weekend festivities.

got out to old vermillion for last weekends shoot. shot mid 60's.. spaced a few stations, but like always they set em tough, fast and mixed in mini's/rabbits/90's...

Not bad Beeker!  Especially for the first tourney of the year... Yep, I'd say he probably has the best mix of targets, and some of the most varied terrain to mess with a shooters head :banghead: in the state up there.... I gotta hit the Northwoods 200 there this year, I usually dont do too well up there, but its a really good learning experience... :whistling:

started out by the damn with some over head crossers and moved to some flying rabbits with the follow up fast crosser... eventually we ended up going around the bottom of the creek with a few battues. my brother just convinced me to hit the ssp shoot this weekend took him all of 2 mnutes of saying there were still open spots before I caved into it. I'm out for the north woods 200 this year.. stupid buddy planned his 2nd wedding on that sunday? wtf.. who gets married on the first long holiday weekend of the summer and does it on the sunday so I have the stupid rehersal on saturday.. thanks for pissin up the entire weekend for your second time around.. (and yes I did say I didn't want to be in the wedding.. however he has no friends, and it's her first wedding and he needed the filler groomsmen)

You guys are describing the worst two types of rabbit targets.... the ones with eyes on the backs of their heads,(notorious for leaping when they see your finger move to hit the trigger ;D) and even worse, those iron clad rabbits that will roll right out of the cloud of dust, unscathed, and triple-dog daring you to shoot again! ;D  Dang Wabbits! :rotflmao:  They're a love/hate thing, aint they?

I'd rather throw rocks than pull the trigger.  Probably will have better results.

I would probably hit myself... throwing rocks seems safer...

I use to HATE the rabbit targets, i couldnt hit those dang things my first year to save my life. then all of sudden on year 2 i think i missed 3 all together last season. red its those incoming setting in ones i like(ducks) and some of the teal ones give me a headache but thats why i love fast targets. if its always easy its no fun

Yeah, I used to hate them wabbits too, now that Ive mastered them, :whistling: They're my favorite ones now... yeah Cody, I agree... the ones that you see for a long time make you loose your patience, or change your mind on your plan of attack... (maybe more than once if they are slow enough) drive me nuts... if they are quick, fast targets that you only can react to without alot of thinking, those are my targets....

I always say that I don't hunt rabbit so why should I shoot em? I usually do good on em.. the flying rabbits are the ones that can mess with you as they tend to get a fast roll and they're gone quick.  I think the trick that helped me this weekend on those long buggers that you watch forever.. is to take the gun down and only track em when they get into the break zone. I think I need a side job to start making some extra cash for my shooting habbit.

Yep, Beeker, that's exactly what one should do... break the total flight of the clay into parts... then separate them, and then just mount and shoot when the target enters that "zone"... takes a lot of discipline :whistling: & sometimes easier said than done... ;)

Well put.  And you won't see easy shots in the field regardless of what you're hunting.

Just for future planning, when are we going to have our first team shoot for the league?

Count me in for sure for the season.  I declined an invite to re-join the golf league from the past two summers.  In fact, we have been golf league champs for the two years so I expect to win this summer.... :happy1:

We should then pick a date where most can show up to shoot first round.  Just want to give the family a heads up.  I know for certain I am not in town next weekend for the spring shoot.

I can't wait... I'm going stir crazy.  Thank god for Wii's "Big Game Hunter".  I have been sharpening my clay breaking skills on the TV.

good time to get out of golf.. apparently it leads to sleeping with many women and earning millions of dollars. sporting clays just leads to frustration/questioning ones choice of sport and eventually buying a new gun.

 New gun or sleeping with women?  I cannot decide....  Would it be wrong to sleep with a new gun while she's on the couch or is that weird?

Red... I'd say that would only be weird if you could get away with it! :rotflmao:  Otherwise Im with Beeker on this... may have even been guilty of it in the past.... :doah:  I talked to my buddy, Pat.... His wife has a job now, so he is waiting for word with my my situation... sounds like I'll know the outcome really soon here... Pats brother Joe wont be shooting this year, and I have to get ahold of the other Pat(Pat #2) to see if he and his friend are shooting... sorry guys for dragging this out here, but I cant put my foot in the door till I know my situation... really hope to be shooting (and working :whistling:) this year!  Cody, is Mitch shooting with us?  My tally is If Pat, myself, Beeker, Red and Cody are all in that's 5 guys, (the minimum)  if Pat #2, his buddy and Mitch shoot, that's 8... a full squad.  Does anyone have "back up" guys that could possibly shoot if need be?  I've been chomping at the bit here waiting to hear word of my job status :bs:, and havent even dared to look at my Citori.... its been calling my name and teasing me! :banghead: :doah: Hopfully I'll get some good news this week....
