So.... Is it too early to start talking about spring Turkeys???

I have a buddy named Andy who claims he is a champion caller and has promised to call me in a bird within bow range this spring. He claims its a done deal.  :whistling:

After my failed attempt last year, I plan to give it another go this spring.  I didn't apply for a license so I will have to use the bow.  Same plan as last year but maybe a little smarter.   :rotflmao:

Its never to early to talk turkey.... All I know is the DNR is giving out a record amount of permits this year, so unless you put in for the opening week or two, you'll get yours!  :happy1: Then there is the old back up plan, the leftover tags....

Its never too early! I had a missed shot last year on a giant tom , ( i missed with bow and missed by 1 inch or less over his back) took the shot from my knees and call the tom and jake perfectly. had gobbles for the whole week then finally they got into a shooting lane.

Tick tock, tick tock....cannot wait for G season to roll around. We have a large group of turkeys on our land again this year 20+ with at least 5-6 big ole Tom's that my Dad has seen recently. I'm planning on going out for a few hours this week and do some scouting for our upcoming hunt. We both shot our first turkeys last fall; I shot a Tom and my Dad took a Jake simultaneously from the same group. I'm going to try and get our hunt on video this time out.  ;)

Where are you going in SD?  Ive hunted the Black Hills... got a really nice Merriams my second day up in the mountains there a few years back.... got it all on film, had 6-8 toms going off over and over running in to little yelps on a slate call, really cool... I should put a little clip of it on here.  Took a week off so I went hiking & coyote hunting till I had to leave.... beautiful country... ponderosa pines, mountain goats... woke up one morning, got out of the tent, was surrounded by elk :happy1:....

Would love to see the clip!

I'm heading to SD on Friday. Going about 40 miles from Platte... I think. We are staying at a cabin on the west side of the Missouri. Really anxious to get out there!
