What's the best for fishing out of, kayak or canoe for one person?

How many of you fish by yourself, without a boat? Looking to try fishing out of a canoe or kayak, which is the best for fishing out of? Which is going to be more stable in the water? which is easier to fish out of ? What's the cost to get started ? I do alot of camping with a travel trailer and can't pull a boat behind it (state law) if it was a fifth wheel it would be no problem. What would you do? Canoe or Kayak?

I have fished out of both....
I liked the canoe better than the kayak. Little more room to move around in, didn't feel as tippy. (if that's a word) and you can get a electric trolling motor attached to the side of the canoe with a special mount.

I have never fished out of a kayak but have a fair amount from a canoe. Seems to me that canoe would have a huge advantage as far as storage - extra rods and tackle box. Also if you did occasionally have a second person along they could join you in a canoe. Plenty stable. Kayak might be a little easier to handle alone.
I bought (and sold) my used 17 ft grumman for $300.

Go with the canoe.  I have a little Crow Wing Kayak that I use for decoys and picking up ducks.  It has a flat back so it is more stable than the traditional kayak.  I think I paid 225 for it new a couple of years ago.  These are made in Brainerd and are designed for fishing.  With a canoe as said earlier you can bring someone with you and you don't have to sit with your legs sticking straight out.   Either will work and are very managable for 1 person.

For two people I like canoes, but they make those fishing kayaks with front/rear accessible storage compartments with rubber gaskets so they stay dry, can/coffee/beer holders build in, rudder steering with feet, rod holder attachments, and not tippy even on a windy day. We use em trout fishing at unnamed lakes. We love em.Two each his own tho, but I recommend the kayak for single use, and a bicycle tire dolly for it. This is similar to what we use.

I fished out of a regular kayak, and didn't enjoy it very much. It had the water seal around your body if ya flipped.....

I think someone makes a kayak type boat also, that you can propell like a paddle boat too.
It had some flippers on it that moved it...
I can't remember the name of it though....
A wobegone?.....or something like that....

Hobie cat (cat) for catameran sail boats located in SanDiego,Ca makes the propeled kayak.   I use  9ft 6in sitin Kayak.They dont allow for muck equipment.But paddleing trout streams its great,flyvest has all my tackle,I bring spinning rod & flyrod under the front and rear is storage for a small cooler and small stuff. I weigh 250 and in the yak with its low center of gravity you'll tip a canoe befor a yak.I can roll mine but I have to try hard.only time I do it is with a spray skirt and trying the roll where if it tips you can upright it while still in it.sometimes called the eskimo roll.
