I sure hope you can get that mount back from your uncle. He looks like he's as proud of it as you are and he's hanging on to the mount awful tight. You better get over there as fast as you can! Nice Mount. :happy1:

hahha!  My Uncle is taken, sorry Doug!  I havent scored it yet, I never did before I sent it to the taxidermist, so I will do a full score once I get it back from him (if I get it back from him, haha)

Well, the buck story goes a little like this...We didnt know this guy was around until about 2 weeks before the season opened.  My other uncle was out checking the stands to make sure they were still all intact and when he drove into the property (which is near my stand) he kicked out this buck.  He only saw its back and the large antlers but didnt know much more - it was the first time we have seen it.  So anyways, he informs me of this and now -- a few years back I missed a really nice buck from a very short distance and its been haunting me ever since, so he told me he saw this buck and if I missed this one I would have the same haunting feeling.  NOW onto Saturday morning.  I get up in my stand, with my GF - it was her first time out, just to observe - and we see two does behind me around 7:15 walking towards our neighbors property and once they get out of sight behind trees and hills I see this buck run after then from out of the woods (about 75-100 yards from me, but through the woods).  I knew it was a nice buck, but It was a pretty small glimce.  So later, about 8:30 we are watching a spike buck chase around 2 does to my right.  I knew I wasnt going to shoot the buck so we just watched them for a while until I heard a crack to my left and I didnt see anything at first and then I saw him come out from behind a tree.  I knew there was only one path he could take and thats right in front of my stand about 15-20 yards away from me.  So I placed my gun on my tree stand rest and just waited for him to walk into my shooting range and BANG - he ran about 25 yards and I heard him topple in this blow-down area.
I never really looked at his rack before I shot, I just knew it was a buck and it was nice.  It wasnt until we got down and tracked him that I knew that it was a doozy!
To make the story better - when he was chasing those does , he went over to our neighbors property and must have been shot at, because when I found him, he had my shot through the lung/heart and another little wound that grazed his back.  Good thing they miised cause im pretty sure thats what brough him back onto out land! :happy1:

It was shot in Zone 277 on opening day.  We are halfway between Glenwood and Belgrade and a few miles south of HWY55

Cool story.  Nothing like a few deer stories and pictures to get a guy/gal going.

Just got done measuring the rack, it scores a 139 5/8 with a 16 1/2 inch inside spead!  My initial guess on the score was about 140, so thats pretty darn close!  I think I did it all right, but who knows!

After looking at him I would say you are pretty darn close if not right on! Awesome deer!

Do we get a story? Or is that posted somewhere else??
