Well last Saturday "Dakids" and I went out to do a little Morel Hunting. We had a great day and found a few shrooms as well. This was the first time that I have been Morel Hunting and had a great time. I brought the cameras along for the ride and threw together a quick video of our morning. I really hope you enjoy! Special thanks to Jerry aka "DaKids"!   :happy1:

I have been talking about trying this for a couple years now but have not found the time. I hope to get out yet this year.

Thanks for putting this together.

Is there a particular type of overstory they are associated with? I think of heard of elms mentioned.
Maple basswood? Oaks? Actually I'm asking this question before I watched the whole video so my question might be premature.

Doug earlier in the year my best spots are the tops of the south facing hills that are more open.  As the season progresses I find them lower on the hills and with more shade.

I have never found mushrooms under solid stands of maple.  Roots are really dense and shallow (dryer ground).  I'm not saying they arn't any there, its just that the leaves are usually thick, which makes it harder to find them.

My best spot over the years is a grove of mature oaks that has a few large elms (dead and alive) mixed in.

Great video guys. I learned some new tips! Hope it helps me with my luck
Let the small bucks walk. Don't assume the neighbors will shoot them if you don't. If you shoot him what chance does that buck have to grow......ZERO!
