Ok...What are these Ducks that I have been seeing everywhere for the past week? They are small and dark and when I see them there are usually at leats 30 of the little guys.

I will look around and see if I can find something.....

If they splash and walk on water when they fly I would say coots.

You guys know your ducks. I did a search and saw a few pics....and yes they are coots.

They are everywhere! never see them around like this in the summer...a northern duck?

More like a swap duck. That are annoying as he@#.

They bust in your decoys once in a while and  BLAMO........AH CRAP DAMN COOT still counts as a duck towards your limit!

But they still make a turd.................

 I tell ya what, if I cooked my seasoned Coot fingers(stripped breast meat) for you and let you dip'em in your choice of blue Cheese dressing, BBQ sauce or whatever. You would shoot a few of them more often.

 Just ask my family after tonight...my yougest didn't even want to dip'em in anything, he said they were so good.

 That comming from Mr ketchup and BBQ sauce

 I'm not kidding...cook'em right and you won't tell them from any other kinda duck

 actually not...coots have their own limit here in Minnesota

you learn something new everyday. If you posted your recipe I would wack n stack 15 just to try something different.

First off...Coots skin easy, just like a grouse

 Just filet the breast meat off the coot.(if you like gizzards, they got a dandy. I save them for gumbo or a good chicken soup

 Wash breast meat good in first warm water, then cold...gets the blood out of them. I do that with all my birds.

 Pat dry with paper towls

 Then lay out breast meat and cut into 1/4' thick strips

 Roll in Cajun Injector Chicken fry mix ...use it dry, don't add water as the directions say.

 Put enough grease in pan to kinda deep fry the strips, get pan hot enough so the strips begin to cook good as soon as they are dropped in the grease.

 cook for about 3 Min or untill they start to brown alittle
 then lay out on a plate with a paper towl under them, just a little salt and pepper.

 Then I like to dip them in Blue Cheese dressing(BBQ sauce or any other dip you would use for finger foods)...dam good stuff.

 trust me, try'em like this and you will kill more and more often
