Saturday June 5th Report:

Today I had a chance to fish with (newbie's) Roland, Ben, and Jacky. After a bit of direction confusion and the Linn Rd sign being faded out so you can't read it in the dark they were finally able to overcome all defugalties and meet up at the launch. I always start the outing with some instructional data. As I explained our mission I summarized by stating "You'll be better fisherman by the end of the day than the beginning".

At that point I cross my fingers and head for the first spot. As fate would have it yesterdays hot spot was just that  "Yesterdays Hot Spot".  That's ok because I've got a whole list of "Yesterdays Hot Spots" to try. The next area was along the south shore and produced a nice smallie out of 17 fow as soon as we pulled in there. After a quick Kodak moment she was back in the water. As the confidence level began to rise the intensity took over. My crew managed to catch some nice Smallies along with some pre spawn largemouth.

When things slowed down a bit as old uncle rock bass was right there to take up the slack over and over and over again. You can run, but you can't hide from uncle rocky. After a quick potty break at The Rivera we were back in the hunt picking off some cruising bass off Maytag point in 12 to 18 fow. Today our mix was about 50/50 on the largemouth & smallmouth. Now let's talk Walleye! Yes, we did see one dead walleye floating near Bigfoot Beach.

One interesting side note was that I hate fishing on weekends, but today was just like a week day as far as the boat traffic goes. I guess everyone was still recovering from the circus atmosphere of last weekend.

See Ya on the water,
