Transducer is fading.   Drops the signal and goes crazy at the worst time.   It's a lawrance x85.  I know how to read it and I replaced the actual unit about 4 years ago because I like it.  No lakemaster chip just a sonar.  I don't want  to pay huge dollars for a new outfit.   The best part is I can leave it on the boat because nobody wants to steal outdated stuff.  What is the life span of the new high tech imaging units?  What is a reasonable price for a high quality sonar?
I am going to have to replace my cell phone pretty soon.   Thats going to be a problem too. :doah:

I know I like my Lowrance a 520 I believe.  I also liked my old X40 if i remember right.  But that one went with the old boat.

I have a 522c from a couple of years ago. Just got an HD5 and it's sweet!! They are around $600 new. If you can get a cheap ducer and like your old unit, go that route to save cash. If you have the cash, get the new HD units. Color is the bomb!!
Friends are like buttcheeks..........crap might separate them, but they come together in the end.
