Lake Geneva 6/17/10 report

 
It was time for Mike Schnell and Lyn to spend a day fishing Geneva. These two are a no pressure team and make my job an easy one. We ran into some of those bull gills and Mike and Lyn couldn't believe the size of them. The largemouth were cooperating along with some Big smallies. Between all the gabbing and lee's fish tails we spent as much time yakking as fishing.



It was good to see old friends once more. The best part of being a fishing guide is the friendships you build over the years with your clients and making their day a memorable one.

**Creeps and idiots cannot conceal themselves for long on a fishing trip. I must be blessed because I've not had many of them in my boat over the years.

When do you start targeting walleye?  Do you do your guides with kinda what the clients want to catch, or is it mostly what you think will bite the best that day??  I am interested to know.

I was wondering when someone was going to ask about walleye. Unfortunately Lake Geneva is a very poor walleye lake. We have no natural reproduction of eyes. The DNR did a survey last Spring and estimated the walleye population to be 1/2 of a walleye per acre. That's why you don't see any walleye photos.

I know that's hard to believe when all you guys live in walleye land, but that's why were not catching walleyes. This year they just stocked eyes for the first time in 5 yrs. The size was the same as a pinhead minnow. So, go figure how many of those will survive.
Basically I advertise that I fish for a mixed bag of game fish and game fish are all catch and release in my boat.

 If they want chow they can keep the pan fish. In MN I know that pan fish are considered game fish by the DNR and that never made any sense to me.
