The Walleye action has remained steady during the past week. With warm weather and manageable winds, limits of Walleye and Sauger were easy to come by. Along with good numbers of fish, we are continuing to see an impressive number of fish being caught in the protected slot (19.5 - 28”) and bigger.

Surface water temperatures are in the low 70s and the Walleyes are hanging deep. Anywhere with 30 feet of water is likely to hold fish. Our guides are targeting fish from the mud flats north of the Lighthouse Gap to Zippel Bay to Long Point. The live bait bite is still going strong. A 1/4 oz to 3/8 oz jig tipped with a frozen shiner and a leech jigged just off the bottom has been the ticket. On calmer days when the live bait bite slows, our guides have been doing some downrigging. Shad Raps, Reef Runners, Wally Divers, Tail Dancers, etc are all boating fish. Black and silver has been hot for some anglers. However, in general there has not been a real go to crankbait color pattern. They’re all catching fish.

The Minnesota Tournament Trail (MTT) made their regular season event stop for 2 – 1 day tournaments this past Friday and Saturday. Tournament anglers had no problem finding their limit of fish. 9 of the 24 boat field found a keeper big fish over the 28” mark on Saturday, making for a great weigh in. The MTT Season Championship will be held here on September 23rd and 24th. A new Skeeter boat will be awarded for 1st place in addition to a great payout and other prizes.

Don’t forget about our July Midweek Package Specials. All 2 night and 2 day packages or longer are discounted for guests who arrive on a Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday. Take advantage of great fishing and beautiful July weather. Best of all, enjoy it during the week while everyone else is stuck working!

Fish On!
