Is there anyone out there??

Fishing on the Big V has been getting better after a horrible start to the summer.  Walleye fishing was very difficult until a couple of weeks ago, when it began to pick up slowly.

Lindy rigs and a crawler have been working pretty well. The early bite has been the best so far. Not much action during the middle of the day so far.

The muskie fishing has been a lot better than the Walleye fishing for me so far this year.
Blades and topwaters have been catching most of the fish for me.

The Pike action has really heated up in the last week or so.  We boated 3 fish in the 40 inch range on Sunday and another 2 or 3 fish in the mid 30's, all on spinnerbaits on large weed flats, in 3 to 8ft of water.

The Smallmouth bass have been on a pretty good topwater bite for a couple of weeks now.  Early and late in the day have been the best times for this action. Soft plastics around docks, rocks and boulders have also been producing very well.

August is typically a great time to be fishing on Vermilion for all species.  The weather is generally very steady during the later part of the summer so getting on a pattern is much easier than it has been for most of the season up here.

Look for the Walleyes out on mainlake rock structures or try pulling some cranks out in the main basin.  There should be a lot of suspended fish following the schools of ciscos now that the thermalcline has set up.

I hope that somebody is out there to read this....

:happy1:    Ace good to hear from you again.  Nice report.  Having been to Vermillion for the first time this July I must say I will be back.  Our weather was as bad as it could get but the Lake was awesome.  We stayed just down the road from your place.  Next time I get up there I will definately look you up.   Thanks again for the report.
