Well How did you all do at Ripley?
I seen a few BIG BOYS while driving. I took a little 5 pt to fill the freezer scene I will only have a few more days to hunt the rest of the year.
I made a high shot on him(7:20 am), tracked him for I fugure 1 1/2 - 2 miles, when I caught up to him he was at the edge of a beaver pond in the catails, I stuck him again and he jumped up and went for a swim and died in the pond(12:40pm). I took a painfully cold swim in my undies to retrive him, but I got him non the less.

A lot of guys would of gave up. Congrats and way to keep after him!  :happy1: :happy1:

Thanks guys I just wish I had brought my GPS, I went through some really nice areas or spots to hunt in years to come. The shocking part is in that 2 mile trek I only ran into 2 other hunters! I do have Pictures but it says its to large to upload....

My buddy and I went up last week and hunted by the north end of the southern Impact zone.  It definitely seems that many hunters key on that area of Lake Alot road.  First morning I saw 10 deer mostly does getting run around by other hunters.  About 8 AM or some I heard a group running and could see they were going to swing around the end of the swamp near where my buddy set up.  Turns out one was a really nice 8 or 10 point that was trotting by.  He shot, but had a clean miss as the deer stopped just as he hit the release!  No sightings all afternoon the first day.  Second morning had a doe and 3 fawns sneak in behind me, but they were about 40 yards out and I had too many tree limbs to get a good shot, not to mention they were not standing still very long at all.  Fun times all in all so I hope I get to go back for my sophmore season up there sometime soon!

Nice deer. Looks like you were one of the .0 something percent that take a trophy out of there.

Water can wake a guy up pretty fast this time of year.  Isn't it nice to be one of the 8% to get a kill? Good job, eat well.
