What do you use for a shooting bench/table?  I'm trying to get some ideas to build a shooting bench.  What features do you feel are essential?  Lets see some pics of your shooting bench/table.

This is one version I'm considering.....

As you can see the seat is adjustable both in height and left and right.

Hi Woody,
I am glad you still hang out with us. You are a national treasure. Anyway however you configure your shooting table make sure you are comfortable. Incorporate a backrest on the seat as sometimes it takes a long time to really dial in.

Ken, thanks for the idea of the backrest.  :happy1:  I might use a boat seat-more cushion and the backrest is already there.  Plus it'll fold down for storage.   And I'm thinking of making this out of aluminum since it won't rust and it's lighter weight.  I've got a couple of hardcore hunters helping me with ideas, but I'm still open for more ideas.  Things you like or dislike about other shooting benches.  I hope to start building one in a week or so.  Right now it all depends on the greenbacks and if the lil momma  :queen2:  says I have enough to proceed.   :whistling:

We use a Lead Sled.  The gun rests in it similar to your bench with one exception.  The butt of the gun rests in a pocket thet keeps the shooter from feeling any of the recoil.  Works great for the big kicking magnums elephant guns.

Yeah Woody? where did you get that?  I like that bench though... definatly needs  a back rest.... maybe a shock absorbing beverage holder for my diet coke :whistling:.... For me, portability is a big factor since I have to go places to shoot.... so the aluminum is a great idea also.  I figure it doesnt have to break down really small, but it should break down and be pretty light.  I like the wide footprint of it, its gotta be sturdy. :happy1:

Maybe some kind of a tray to hold a pile-o-bullets on also.... I like the "clevis pin" assembly/adjustability deal alot, thats the way to go for sure... not one size fits all like some are.

Looking at the front height adjusting leg, I think I'd have an adjustable foot out on the front of the leg instead of the bolt tilting the leg where it should be anchored... looks like the only weak link that I see... you have a friend with a good helarc welder?  Perfect project for one.... Honey.....?   Can we get a Helarc welder?...... honey? ;D

The forth picture down looks like a lead sled. I just have a gun holder I made. Not much adjustment in it. I use the picnic table for a bench.
