Starting to hear rumors of "hard horns". My first shed buck showed up on August 23rd last year. Anyone see anything yet?

All I have seen down here in Winona are bucks with the velvet still on.

bone- I see the time stamp in the buck picture is 7pm.  Not too nocturnal now I suppose, maybe you will get a chance at him during the season (Looks like a nice one).  You have many other bucks running around when you have been checking the cameras?

Oh yes plenty of decent to good bucks this year. I been getting a few during the day but most of the picks are after dark. What surprises is I have only seen one little buck all summer. I am sure there around but its wierd if you ask me. You think there could be to much domance with the other bucks that they are just not here???

I dont think dominance would run the bucks out - usually they can tolerate eachother until it comes to the rut, then the dominant buck could chase the smaller ones out, but they usually come back.
The bucks have really have no reason to be out during the day, except to eat (which they would usually do at night).  I would say its just coincidence that you havent seen them, if you have pictures of them coming through, they will be around during hunting season as long as there are lots of does and food!

Let him grow.  Its prety hard to change genetics in an area.  You would also need to shoot his mother, grandmother and so on.
Anything that is free is worth saving up for.

Cody, you don't have a chance with this one.  He's already taunting you by sticking out his tonge at you! :rotflmao:

Current Studies are now saying that the doe is offering more to a bucks antlers than the actual Bucks. I toured and interviewed a deer farmer last year and he showed me his two prized does. Said he would get rid of all his bucks before her.

There's no velvet on him.

Saw two velvet shed bucks tonight in SW Minnesota. Actually one was on a cam from a last night and then we saw a bachelor group of 4 tonight and when the biggest one ran his velvet was flopping all around! Cool sight to see!

Just about all my bucks have left. Mostly does and fawns. I think they are hiding in the corn. Here is one that is still around.

well i put out another trophy rock and replanted a much larger no plow food plot with the camera over it, to keep track of atleast that one tall wide 6 point, to see when he loses the velvet

Over the past week the ones I've had on camera have lost their velvet. The fawns are starting to lose spots as well. I have recently learned as well that I have a bachelor group with 3 studs!
