I am bringing up a friend that has never caught a walleye and was wondering if anybody out there has any tips that could help to try and get this guy a few walleyes in the boat.  I am going to head up friday afternoon early evening thinking about hitting the west side but I am open to any suggestions on where to go and where to try.  Thanks for any help that you can give

Hard to say when you don't say where your going! I would assume Mille Lacs? Try drowning some leeches or dragging some cranks. I think the water temps may be changing so the patterns may become erratic. My 2 cents....

I don't fish Mille Lacs- but if I did and did not know the lake I would go to Fleet Farm and pick up some keel sinkers, a couple of shad raps, and some original floater rapalas.  Put the keel  (1oz-1.5oz.)about 3/4 of a rod lenght ahead of your rap.  Depending on your depth and line out you should be able to get this rig  to run about 20 ft. Down.  (Lead core is nice but this will work too).  Do not be afraid to go with 7 in. floaters.   If the time is right you will get hit.   Good luck to you and again let me clarify that I do not fish the big pond but this is the way I would hit it at this time of the year not knowing anything about it.    :doah: :doah:
