Cody, you seeing much for ducks in your area?

Not many on the local sloughs or private land I been scouting, LOTS of birds in town tho. See em all the time as I drive around for work.

Anyone seeing any good numbers of birds, and where abouts?

City birds in Bloomington/Lakeville/Burnsville
Hunting areas in Lonsdale/Southern Lakeville/Hastings

i hunt a marsh around the victoria area, and everytime i was out goose hunting i had birds in my spread buzzing my spread and circling. at one point i counted 16 ducks in my spread half of which were blue wings, 4 wood ducks some mallards and gadwalls also. they did very well for youth down there also getting 4 ducks and 1 goose and they should of had more. ive never seen so many ducks down there so im pretty excited, but im going out of town to hunt on opener so those birds wont be there when i get back. but wood ducks and teal are about 75% of the birds i see. its just the huge numbers that blows my mind

We have had up to 30 ducks in the backyard pond this year, but average 12 daily.

With only 5 days left to wait I am haunted by the memories of last years hunts. Hollering at Red to wake up, watching him fall asleep beside me as I drive and listening to him snore in the tent beside me!! :rotflmao: Visions of Red and Finpower missing duck after duck and the dog looking up at me with the 'Why am I here look'. It's pretty bad when your in the blind and the ducks are flying and the dog is sleeping behind you for lack of anything to do!! You see the dog knows that I fetch my own ducks with the canoe, we have an agreement :whistling:. Regardless, I'm looking forward to the nightly fires and stories while  :drinking: a few at the end of a hard days duck hunt. Will there be a 'Duck Tally Board' for this years season on here? The goose numbers chat had me gettin' pretty itchy!!
Going South......in a manner of speaking!

Out scouting this morning... Found a flooded bean field with about 4 feet of water, about 200 honkers, lots of mallards and puddle ducks, and about a dozen pinnies!

Hope they still there a week from now.

Getting excited.

First off, the dog won't retrieve unless you throw rocks at the bird....

Second, I nap because I am tired of carrying you and Finn Power on my back... old man.

Third, fall alseep first; whether behind the wheel or in the tent and you won't hear me snore....

I am losing sleep waiting for duck season.... Is there something wrong  with me?

Here's a sight of what I found yesterday morning.

Getting to be more and more in my field and only 500 acres cut so far.

Just a few flocks of ducks that I saw, mostly geese.
