i shot at a really nice 8 pointer last night he was about 30 yards away broadside when i found my arrow it was a clean miss my question is when i found the arrow it was about 8 maybe 10 yards past where the deer was standing and i was shooting from the ground did i shoot over him or under him? any help would be great thanks

Not sure over or under but I would guess way under or you hit something. If I shot my bow at a target 30 yds away and missed my arrow would trave alot more than 8 yds past it before hitting the ground unless it was at a downword angle or deflected off something.

Sounds like your arrow only traveled 40 yds . I would say you shot way under him. I would guess you shoot a lighter weight bow and maybe used your 10 yd pin. How many pins are you using? Or do you shoot with a loop or a nock? If a nock you may have put the arrow on above it. ???? Something went wrong, ground shot and it only traveled 40? Better luck next time. Make sure to resight

Sorry to hear you missed.  You learn a little every time out.  Is there more to the story?  Were you stalking?, In a ground blind?, Just walking?, What was the deers reaction?

stalked him from about 80 yards saw a smaller one b4 him and then he stepped into view so i waited till he gave me a good shot missed him the smaller one stood there didn't know what happen then he spooked so i went to get my arrow and there were 2 more bucks out in the field also so there were a total of 4 but the one i missed ran about 60 yards and looked back then just put his head down and walk off

Hopefully you will get another shot! I am sure we all have missed I know I have! Just gotta take a few practice shots and make sure nothing is wrong with the bow and get back at it.

I also haven't missed yet this year.  Then again, I didn't shoot at one yet either.   :whistling:
