Anyone out there know of a place around Grand Marais (on HWY 61) where I coiuld pitch a tent late at night while on my way north to Thunder Bay? I'll be getting there around 2300 hrs. Any suggestions would be appreciated. ;D Looking for something on the cheap too. Anyone know if it's legal to pitch a tent on the shore of Gitcheegummi?

Take a kid hunting and fishing... It'll be the best thing for generations to come.

The pic in my avatar was taken after the three of us slept in the van right in the lake.
Is it really worth setting up camp at 11 PM?

FireRanger.... there's a campground in Grand Marais right on the lake I believe.... if its still there, or try Gooseberry Falls on the way there...... but watch out if those gale winds of November come early.......... :whistling:

Well.....sounds as though I'll be spiking north of Grand Marais, just off the beaten path. All other campgrounds want 30 some odd bucks just for setting my tent there for 7 hours. Besides, a lot of them close way to early for my arrival. My youngest is a little leary of the idea.....( :taz:) having never slept in a tent before. We'll see how it goes.
