After trying for pike in the morning with no luck...I decided to get some lunch then head out for Crappie.

I fished for about an hour and a half, they were on a bite with the front moving in.
Using my favorite noodle pole, a green glow marmooska, tiped with a wax worm.
The wind was whipping so hard, I called it a day and brought home my limit of slabs.  :happy1:

Its nice to see someone is catching fish, all of my buddies I talk to are not hitting fish anywhere they try. But being my our age (19-24) they are prolly more focused on bottle bass   :drinking:
Hoping to find some fish on some of Camp Ripleys lakes this sunday after I get released from drill.

This was the first time I drove my truck out this year. My daughter and her boyfriend went out yesterday with his truck and caught their limit. So, I thought I would give it a shot.

The ice is around 16-17 inches with the last 3 or so being the "white" ice.

Same jig, same presentation...green glow marmooska tipped with a wax worm.

I caught my limit in about an hour, all being a little short (or at) the lenght of a Fawkinnae bumper sticker.
Not monsters, just good fish!

Great report. Are you fishing Rush or different area lakes? Maybe we could hit the lake together some time were practically neighbors if I remember right.

BiggA, I hit a lot of different area lakes, not just Rush. I'm run and gunn'er...I hop from lake to lake. And when I'm on a lake I pop anywhere from 2 holes up to 50 if I have to.

And yup, we can hit a lake together sometime.  :fishing:

Yesterday, my son, a friend of mine and myself met up with Icebanger, DDS, The General and Fawkinnae for an afternoon of fish'in.

It wasn't to to cold, but the wind was a little chilly at times. We fished in one of my "honey" holes and caught some Crappies. The bite was a little tougher that it has been, but I think we all went home with a limit each. Maybe DDS was 1 short?  Last time I asked him he had 9

It was a great day on the ice with friends! Drank some beer, smoked a cigar and bs'ed...Prolly took longer to catch our fish cause we were catching up with each other since the last time.

The fish picked at the wax worms this time with a light bit. DDS, Fawkinnae and The General were switching back and forth between minnows and waxies when the fish got picky and they did well with their presentations.

I only took a couple pics this time out...sorry....

HD thanks so much for leading us to your crappie honey hole. When did you say I could take the blindfold off - I forget.

Great to see everyone - new friends and old friends. And General thanks for the advanced crappie training. I learned some new crappie catching tricks. And of course learned what new toys to add to my very long toy list.

Yup, I would have to agree that The General is very talented.... He even left his signature behind the fish cleaning shack to let me remember that he was there!  :rotflmao:

Welp....we hit the ice around 12:30 in the afternoon. We did well, we caught our limit in about 2 hours. My buddy was using one of DDS's jigs with minnows and I was using a yellow and orange marmooska with wax worms. Even with the deep freeze temp's the bite seems to be consistant...

So, get your butt off of the couch and fish!  ;D

I didn't want you folks to think that every time I go out, I hammer the fish.
So, this one is a little less successful trip......

I tried a different lake today, and drilled literally 27 holes (I counted) to find active fish.
My "go to" baits were not producing, so I switched quite often to find what they wanted.
The best I could find in my box, was a glow demon with a orange strip with wax worms.
They wouldn't touch a minnow. After 3 1/2 hours of fish'in I only caught 4 fish that would be keepers. (They were released) I caught 50 to 75 Crappies that were the "beer can" size.

But any day that you are outdoors, is better than sitting on the couch.

Here are the pic's:
