Hi everybody,
It's been awhile since my last report.  I finaly got myself a new computer, webtv is dead and gone. The ice conditions on Vermilion are excellent right now.  We have about 13 or 14 inches of good solid ice in the McKinley park area of Big bay.  Ice travel is very easy even off the plowed road as there is only a few inches of snow on the ice surface.

The fishing has been very good all this week as the Walleye action has been hot in my shack.  I have talked to a number of anglers that have been experiencing similar action.  We are also catching a number a nice Jumbo Perch mixed right in with the Walleyes.  Most of my action is coming on 1/8 to 1/4 oz glow jigs tipped with a fathead minnow. My shack is in 28ft however I know that the action has been very good in shallower water as well.

Merry Christmas everybody!

Hey everybody,
Things haven't changed to much since the last report.  The fishing was a little slower yesterday however we still caught fish.  We only got about 3 or 4 inches of new snow :snow5:  so ice travel is still pretty easy, even without a four wheel drive vehicle. :mysterymachine: I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas :snow4:

Drive safe and take your trash home with you, please don't leave it on the ice for someone else to clean up.

Happy Holidays!! :toast:

Hey all,
Ice conditions are excellent on the east end.  The only slush I have seen is in some of the smaller back bays.  The ice on the main lake is very good and there are no signs of any slush out in Big bay. :happy1:
The snow cover has increased a bit in the last week but you can still get around with a 4 wheel drive truck.  Just watch out for the big snow drifts. :snow5:

The Walleye fishing has been a little slower for me this week however we are still catching fish every day. The bite has moved deeper for most of the anglers I have talked to.  The 25ft plus action has been the most consistent by far.  Small glow jigs and spoons are still getting most of the action in my shack.  I'm also catching fish on the dead stick rig and at times it's the best way to go.  :fishing2:

Have a great day everybody! :toast:

The ice shacks are coming off the lake as fast as people can pull them off. Ice conditions have really hit the skids this week with the warmer weather we have had here in the northland. There was a lot of standing water on the roads out of McKinley park but now with the colder weather it has changed to deep ruts and potholes. Hard to say what it will be like if we get the big storm this weekend. They are saying maybe as much as 10 inches of new snow starting Saturday night. :snow5:

The fishing has been pretty slow for Walleyes for a few weeks now and it doesn't look like it will improve anytime soon. The Pike action hasn't been to bad if you are willing to move around a little.
Big hair jigs and tip-ups with livebait have been working pretty well on the shoreline breaks and in the weeds. :fishing2:

Have a great weekend! :USA:
