Went up on Wed with 2 other couples. Gail force winds and a lot of snow. Only managed to keep 4 saugers and 4 walleyes. Had some eelpout for the first time. Goose boiled the back strips in 7up and then put them in butter. Just like lobster. Had a good time and ate to much again. Didn't make it to the bar on New Years because of the winds and snow that was coming down. The next mouring we headed in to shore for LP and there was a pickup sitting head first over the rocks by shore. He missed the road. The guy at the bait shop said there was 3 of them that went that way. The first one made it over the rocks and the ice ridge. The second one was the one sitting there still and the third one got hung up on the rocks. The other 2 couples with me landed a few more fish then me. I still ended up with the shot glass trophy with the biggest fish. A nice big eelpout.

Sounds like a pretty nice trip - despite the crappy weather.
Do you know people up there or did you stay at a lodge/rent a fish house?

-- We are planning a trip up there this year, as the my uncles and dad did last year, I believe they were at Sportsman's Lodge, so I am curious where you stayed.   :happy1:

Congrats on the Eelpout, I have still yet to catch one, but I hear they are a fighter (and that 7up and butter recipe doesnt seem too bad..... I just dont know if I could eat something knowing its an eelpout, but I suppose I will try everything once, and it really cant be that bad.)

I tell ya what, once you try it you will like it. It looks just like any other fish meat. We pulled our fish houses up there and stayed in them. we went out of Morris Point. They don't have a shower like some of the other ones. We went over to Zipple Bay and took showers. That's one thing I would have if I owned one of those resorts. At URL West wind has some nice showers. I left the fish house at URL so we can go up there in 2 weeks. They charge 15.00 a week to store it there.
