how about the time Dr.Bob was spinnin his wheels in his big ol pickup truck and couldnt get no traction. he yells,"quick throw something under my tires for traction". I grabbed the closest thing, which happened to be my auger  :o

how about all this hubub that goes on here on this site during the off season is just meant to get us through to ICE FISHING SEASON!!

it wont be long now. most all the lakes here in itasca county and north are frozen solid!!

moose lake and some of the other area lakes just slammed shut two nights ago. we woke up to 11 degrees and it warmed up, but not enough to make much of a difference.
some of the deeper lakes are still open, pokegama, deer lake, both of the big trout lakes, coleraine and north by spyder.
those lakes stay open longer and are a sure bet for late season waterfowl.
but enough about that. the talk now is about Crappies and them pesky perch. bull gills and rainbow trout. huge red lake northern pike and lake of the woods walleyes.

sharpen (straighten)those auger blades.
put in fresh gas and give em a test fire.
go through your ice tackle boxes and make sure your icebuster bobers are plentiful.
got enough bobber stops?
how about them gamakatsu hooks?
phelps snakes and ticks in number four?
angel eyes and  tub-u-lures?

time to charge up your vex's and marcums.
set up the portables and never sieze the lock bolts and spray the hinges and detents.

got new line for those rode/reel combos and tip-ups?

can you feel it?

Fired up the strikemaster on Sat. started on second pull. Got the boat put away finally,its nice having my garage back, and now to get all the ice fishing gear together.
 The smaller lakes froze over this past weekend( S. Minn )but probably won`t stay because of the warm weather.
 Still need to site in the muzzle loader yet.
 So much to do, so little time. Must be getting old.

Greetings from Southern Minnesota, the lakes are wide open. Some have been getting fish from shore. The water is down. You set up shop and here comes someone in waders and proceeds to splash like a hippo 20' from you. They have the whole shoreline but need to stand right next to where your bait is laying. Some sit and shake their heads. I have "kindly" asked some to move on down and give us some room.

OL PUTZ went down to see Moron and took Grandson to the Majic Kingdom to see Mickey mouse.
Grandson SAM just about jumped out of his skin when he met Mickey on A  one to one , Big hug and all .
Even I shook ol Mickey by the hand, you know hes 78 years old now, Mickey that is .
Sam is three .
That ol mouse still looks like A young cheese nibbler.
I even tried to find Anette but no luck.
