SIOUX FALLS -- Organizers of what is billed as the inaugural Midwest show on sorghum, alfalfa and forage grass expect people from at least seven states to attend the event in South Dakota.

Agweek reports that the Midwest Forage and Turf Seminar on Thursday in the Sioux Falls Convention Center is featuring speakers from seed companies and government agencies. Topics include cover crops, erosion control and the federal Conservation Reserve Program.

The event is sponsored by LaCrosse Forage and Turf Seed, which has locations in LaCrosse, Wis., and Sioux Falls. Spokesman Jon Mohn says sorghum, alfalfa and forage grass don't get a lot of attention, and there's a need for information on the crops.
