This is an interesting broadhead test.   See for yourself and make your own call.   I know everyone has heard all the hype about Rage, but notice just how poorly they did in this test.   Also notice how great the fixed blades did...  What do you think?

im failing to see the point of shooting broadheads at a barrel(other than the shear expensivness for both arrow and those boardheads), has to do with there performance on a deer. i always use fix just because i have first hand seen the rage freeze shut(under extreme conditions) but i have also seen what they do to a deer, they leave enormous entrance and even bigger exit holes. and even helps with poorly placed shots because they rip up everything. maybe a little enlightenment?

It would have to be close to a miracle for me to change from a Rage broadhead.  I can not believe the damage they do to a deer.  I also shoot the 2 blade.

In order to perform an accurate experiment no corners can be cut, eliminating the expense issue.   Shooting through a steel barrel offers a hard surface that can be penitrated.   This can kill two brids with one stone.   The penitration factor and durability.   "If it can do this to a steel barrel, what can it do to a shoulder blade," type of situation.   The steel barrel shows the durability of a broadhead in taking on hard materials.

I am most impressed with the set up for testing mechanical broadheads.   Shooting through a melon and into a target to test the correct opening of blades.   This is a great test for those broadheads.

The proof is in the evidence.

Shoot straight and you won't have to worry about which broadhead you are using, they are all capable of killing  :happy1:

the mac em did go threw the first wall but it did not show u if there was a previouse hole there it is hard to belive that only 1 out of 30 broadheads would go threw they should of backed up the test and did it again (imo)

I guess I didn't watch close enough. You are saying that only one went through?? I'd watch again right now but youtube is blocked where I am.

I believe it's a good test with the melon to test for blades opening or not.  As for shooting the barrel, I've never had one run away regardless of which broadhead I used.  I'm not sure that shooting steel is related to shooting an animal.

Shooting the barrel is not intended to be related to animals.   It is simply to show the DURABILITY.   For example, you see a commercial on TV about a new tool.   They show someone drive over it with a truck to show you its durability not to show you how well it pounds in a nail.   Driving over it isn't related to what it does it just shows how "tough" it is.   Follow?

I think the key is, its not a rock solid test for all broadheads - but it does show penetration and durability, which is helpful too, if an expandable hits a bone, you dont want it to crumble, I would want it to still have the ability to conflict some damage.
It gives you a starting place for analyzing broadheads.  Now, if you can add, IT FLYS WELL TOO - then you have yourself a pretty darn good broadhead.  :green archer:

Take everything with a grain of salt.  Helpful video though :happy1:

Being a Muzzy fan myself, I to would have liked them to have been included in this testing.   A friend of mine has done some great testing with broadheads.   Surprisingly, a tractor tire was the material that did the most damage to the broadheads.   He said Muzzy was one of the broadheads that held up the best.   Just a little FYI.

Here is an example of some of the wounds caused by a rage 2 blade.  Please don't view if you don't like blood.  But I have also seen wounds from the deer I've shot like this.

You guys are right.   Muzzy is a wonderful broadhead.   When something is good, it simply lasts.   Muzzy has been around for a long long time, do to their great quality.   Fixed blades have no mechanical error and their inner locking system is amazing.   I've really been pleased with Muzzy's new MX Series.   SUPER durable and they fly better than any fixed blade I've ever had the opprotunity to shot.   Some broadheads are one hit wonders and some are fads, Muzzy has definitely made a statement in the market.
