Bowstring - Jigglestick

Jigglestick - I know you are close to Bowstring.  What is your prediction on the winter crappie bite?  I hear that the population is starting to pick up.  I haven't fished the lake in the winter and the last time was on the opener in the late 80's.  We caught more crappies that walleyes on that trip by the rock pile and out in front of muskrat bay.

I was just by there this morning, and almost went in to the south landing, but it was raining like a dam and it just didnt seem like the thing to do at the time I guess.
there really wont be safe fishable ice for another three or four days, so I wasnt in a hurry to go check it out.
the rain has been coming down steady today since early this morning and the wind is strong as well.
enough so that it kept me and Goose from whacking some last minute waterfowl.
we sat by the landing and watched it turn light out, drinking a thermos of coffee.
the whitecaps crashing in would have made short work of our little boat.
I may have been bolder years ago, but having made it this far, intact for the most part, I look at each day as a gift and I have a good idea what the old phrase "dont push your luck" means

back to your questions about bowstring, do I think the crappie fishing will be good this year?
lets just say this, without blabbing things all over the internet. I plan to have a hardhouse out there this winter :)

my son Dan and I wrapped up our winter season on bowstring last spring.
we had a ball.
he learned how to really use a vexilar and ice cleats  (you'll have to ask him about that).

Thanks for the prompt report jigglestick.  We have talked about alternating between Red, Bowstring and some other lakes around the area so maybe we will see you up there.  I will either e-mail you or post on the website when we are heading up and maybe we can connect on the ice.

Never did find out what the secret lake was last year that we were all supposed to try.

just be happy we all made it through another summer. we can try again this winter. all we need is enough ice to support our wheelhouse caravan.
the way it is going lately, I wonder if she is ever gonna stiffen up ???
