What type of depth finders do you guys lke to use the best. I am going to go invest in one and would love some advice....

 :) hey bam,  i use agenz blue box with a fleet farm motorcycle battery and a wal mart 100.00 special ! nothing fancy but it helps me put fish in my bucket.

Marcum LX-3 with True Color.  Battery will last two days.

vexilar Fl18.  The battery will go two days on low power

FL-18.  Had a marcum LX-3 but am one of the few that prefer the vex over the marcum.

I'm looking at getting the Lowrance X67c.  I've heard good things about this unit, and it will double as a summer fish finder for my boat.

Although I am not an ice fisherman I do manage to hit the ice every year. Over the years I have used an array of electronics. Specifically I have used the Lowrance X67c, Marcum Lx3 and a Vexilar...I think it was an fl-18?  Anyways out of all of the units I had the most fun and success using the lowrance. It was by far the easiest to read and it was accurate! We caught about 5 small perch that day..fishing was awful, but everyone I marked coming in. It was a blast just using the unit. So I read a lot on here obviously and I see all the talk about the Marcum and the vexilar but not much on the Lowrance. I guess I don't know what I was missing with the other two units.

what ever you can get the best deal on.  I think they will all work and do the job for you.  Unless money isn't a factor... in that case, will you get me one too?

bambi, I think you would see alot of neat ideas at the ice show. every product under the sun will be on display there.

the best thing to do before you commit to buy ANYTHING would be to tag along with some of the guys you know here or elsewhere and check out the products first hand in use.

most of this stuff is the old ford vs. chevy syndrom, but each product has its own features and some may suit you better than others.

depending on your budget, I could make you a list of specific items to check out, narrowing your search. there are a ton of options.
mostly I would need to know your budget and style of fishing.
then I could point you in a direction.
maybe someone here would meet you at the ice show and bombard you with ideas until your head explodes. that's allways a hoot.

Thanks for the info. I just got back and priced out fleet farm and Gander Mt, but all they had on hand was vexlars......I guess to the ice show I go.......

I am looking at doing panfish, and walleye fishing. Just getting back into it or getting into it. I guess as far as spending goes. I can spend anywhere between whatever I guess, but would like a little range. you know 200 to 500 then go from there.
